Hi, I’m Jules.

I’m a holistic women’s health educator, holistic birth & postpartum doula, and certified birth educator based in Brooklyn. I’m also a chef and amateur collage artist. Through JULES ALMA, I help women and girls understand their bodies through all phases of womanhood, from menarche through birth and beyond.

I believe the female body is often misunderstood, and that most of us were never taught how it actually works, let alone the many gifts and superpowers it offers us in each phase. From the way we bleed, birth, and nourish our bodies, there is so much healing and joy waiting to be experienced.

“My relationship with my own body hasn’t always been easy.”

My path to this work

My relationship with my own body hasn’t always been easy. For years I struggled with cycle issues and confusing symptoms, and I felt disconnected from my body. Learning to understand my menstrual cycle changed everything. It became a guide in my life, and I went on to study cyclical awareness deeply through Red School’s Menstruality Leadership Program and train as a menstrual circle leader. I genuinely love and cherish my cycle. It’s a constant reminder of my connection to nature and womanhood.

That path led me to the birth world. I trained as a doula under Eyla Cuenca of Uncovering Birth, whose mentorship I’m still grateful to be under today. I now co-teach alongside her in Uncovering Birth’s annual doula trainings. Today I support women through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum, and I’ve also worked as a postpartum private chef specializing in nourishing recipes for women’s health.

Workshops & community education

Some of my most meaningful work happens in person. I lead birth courses, women’s health workshops and menstrual circles for women and teen girls, including Inner Seasons, a cycle literacy series that teaches girls ages 12–17 how their cycle works, how to track and care for themselves, and how to talk confidently with parents and doctors about their health.

My teaching is holistic and non-clinical. I encourage every girl and woman to create a team of providers who truly listen to her, and to show up to that relationship advocating for and deeply knowing her own body.

I offer workshops for schools, youth organizations, and holistic community groups across NYC.

Why “Alma”?

Alma means “soul” in Spanish. This work has been deeply healing for my own soul, and my hope is that every woman and girl I work with leaves feeling more at home in her body.

With love,
